PROJECT SUMMARY

The promoters of a flagship recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (r-PET) waste management project in Zambia have identified an opportunity to scale up operations and vertically ascend the r-PET value chains via washing and crushing r-PET bottles into flakes for both local and export markets, and thus achieve economies of scale, high potential ‘‘GDP & forex’’ returns, enhance sustainability of the planet (“Project Earth”) and contribute to employment opportunities especially for the women and youth..

Project ‘‘Earth’’ will not only significantly minimize plastic waste pollution through a re-think, reduce, recycle and reuse model but also provide alternative means of electricity through gasification, as well as offer consumer by-products for sale such as handbags, shirts and paved bricks for building.
